They say an ant can carry items between 10-50 times their own body weight. Apparently, if we were as strong as an ant, we could lift an automobile! Crazy right? Ants are small but they are deceiving little powerhouses!

This summer I'm creating an affirmations CD for the '90 Days to Body Love' program launching this fall. I've been reading and writing a lot of 'I AM' statements for the project, and as I've been working on these, I've realized that these two little words are again, deceiving, but yet very powerful.

The words we say after, 'I AM' can have a huge impact on our lives either positive or negative.

Many times we are making unconscious 'I AM' statements with no real awareness of what we're actually saying to ourselves. Unfortunately, many of these statements do not support our best interest and we're not even aware of it.

The key to using 'I AM' statements as affirmations is to create some that resonate with our current situation and to repeat them on a consistent basis.

I believe that if we want to improve a particular area of our lives we first need to improve our thoughts. For example, in the body love program I don't necessarily address the body but instead I address the thoughts and feelings that we have about our bodies because those are the real culprits to our body image issues.

But how do we change our thoughts and feelings? Well positive 'I AM' affirmations is a really great place to start.

Imagine saying these to yourself on a daily basis: I AM strong! I AM abundant! I AM capable! I AM important! I AM worthy! I AM smart! I AM gorgeous! I AM unique! I AM love!

This week I challenge you to consider an area of your life that you would like to improve. Then create a minimum of 30 positive affirmations to support your efforts. You can begin many of those affirmations using 'I AM' statements. Finally, choose a time of day when you will sit quietly for 5 minutes and repeat your affirmations aloud... saying them in the mirror is even more powerful!

Until next time... Love Your Self! Love Your Life!
