1) Spend a lot more time playing in nature! The pictures posted of Mac on his Facebook wall were mostly breath taking scenes of him on some outdoor adventure. He was either standing in the middle of a forest, on the top of a mountain, paddling away in his kayak or just hanging outside. Mother Nature's playground was obviously a huge source of joy for him and I believe it can be for all of us.
2) Hug with intent! I saw this post on Mac's wall and it will inspire me forever... 'Mac you give the best of hugs, teach me your ways.' 'Well Renee, there's one rule. You always have to mean them. And they will always be special' The hugs I give to my loved ones will never be the same because of this. Thank you so much for this one!
3) See past the bullshit! Elaine said that Mac loved everyone and it was because he had the ability to see past the bullshit. The bullshit I'm assuming means all of the problems, flaws and character defects that we spend far too much time focusing on. I love this idea of seeing past the bullshit because behind every flawed person is a beautiful soul and that's what I want to see when I look at people.
4) Smile at everyone! The few times I met Mac, he greeted me with this incredible smile as if he'd known me his whole life. Sometimes the best way to comfort someone or to make someone feel welcome is to simply smile at them. You sure had a gorgeous smile Mac. Thank you for being such a shining light every time you greeted me!
To all of those who loved him - may the peace of God fill your hearts with comfort.
Mac, thank you for inspiring me. You will be dearly missed by so many.
Rest in Peace.
