Healthy... What does that mean exactly?

It's already November! I can't believe it! And this weather... it's amazing!

Two days ago, my son (Raylen) and my niece (Sophia) walked into my office wearing nothing but their underwear. They had found water guns downstairs and together, they came up with a plan.

With their big beautiful eyes full of hope they asked me, "can we go outside and have a water fight?" I totally understand why they thought they should do this. The sun was shining, the grass is still completely green... a water fight only makes sense.

And for a moment, I almost let them, I mean really, it would have lasted 5 minutes maximum and it would have been a total blast. But instead, I bought into all the serious aspects. "Maybe my brother and sister-in-law would be pissed at me for allowing this?" (likely not) "The kids could get nasty colds." (likely not)

Merry Christmas Body Love readers! Are you wondering what a Body Love Holiday Season looks like? It is giving yourself the gift of freedom. But first, let me share with you what's been going on for me lately...

It has been 3 months since I quit smoking (for the hundredth time). It is the first time, however, that I have actually gained weight from doing so. It didn’t help that my husband and I took our kiddos on a family vacation. There has been a lot of food and a lot of cheering over the last month (and there's a lot more where that came from). I couldn’t tell you exactly how much weight I gained since weigh scales are prohibited in my home. And besides, who needs a scale anyway, clothes don’t lie and of course there's the fact that I was just plain uncomfortable.

Bring on the Rituals!

In my last blog I talked about ‘returning to movement’ which is basically a technical term for, ‘I’m ready to start working out again’. Using this terminology was very deliberate. As I’ve mentioned over and over again, ending the body battle is all about shifting perspectives. Yes, it really is that easy. But what isn’t so easy is MAINTAINING that shift day after day after day.

I have purposely capitalized the word ‘MAINTAIN’ throughout this blog because without ‘MAINTAINING’ a shift in perspective day after day, then a shift is not taking place. Let me elaborate.

My wish for you. My wish for me.

This year, I wish for you, that your only resolution is to love yourself totally and completely.

It’s January 2, 2011. Another year has come and gone. I remember as if it were yesterday, the buzz around the year 2000. The digital worry; Y2K. What would it bring? Would the world’s computer systems crash? Would we be left in the dark? Would it be a disaster? Should we stock up on food and water?

Don't Hit the Panic Button

The holiday season has come and gone. I’ve been thinking about you. Are your pants fitting a little like mine… tight around the waist? If so, this is because you gave yourself the freedom to enjoy all the food and drinks at your family holiday celebrations. This is a good thing.
So let me ask you this: Has there been a sense of panic? Have you been freaking out at all? Are you thinking you have to get back on track with your food? Are you prepared to exercise your butt off?

Can You Declare How Great You Are?

Body Love’s ultimate goal is for women to be free from the burden of body image and body concern. Imagine what life would be like without these burdens.

Body obsession has plagued my life for years. What is so interesting about this is that I know now that I have never been overweight. In fact, I've realized that I don’t even know what it’s like to be overweight. And yet my warped sense of vision has led me to feel and to really believe with all of my heart that I need to lose weight.

A Return to Movement

Marianne Williamson is one of my favorite authors. She’s written the books, A Return to Love, Illuminata (A Return to Prayer), The Gift of Change and many more. In fact, she’s just come out with her latest book, A Course in Weightloss that I have not read but would like to pick up for curiosity’s sake.
